General Discussion / Re: Myro stops controlling KD matrix
« on: March 27, 2015, 09:44:42 am »
Just another question first.  This system will work all day just fine, maybe two days, but at some point the video switching will cease.   I went there today and cycled power simultaneously to all components, still no switching.  If I "reboot" the bridge all is well again switching sources, etc.   Is there a way to make a power cycle a "reboot?"  It seems as thought the bridge needs to be rebooted occasionally to work. Can an issue with the RNET data cause this?

Btw, there is no internet connection, but a router is connected and the Myro has the latest firmware for offline mode.  I cleared the Myro and reflashed it again last week with the same firmware.  It appears as though I have a Bridge that is going awry, but I want to make sure that the RNET data cannot corrupt it???  Reason I ask it that I am having issue with a command that sends  "PLAY"  to the Bluray player to wake it up when that source is selected.

You should never have to reboot a Myro:Bridge that has the Matrix Firmware installed, once it's up and running.   So the issue you are having could be related to EMI or something else.  I'd rather replace the unit than have you spend time troubleshooting this.   I can advanced ship a unit if needed as well.  Please create a support ticket with address and we'll get a unit shipped out.

Thanks!

Can you provide us with the model of KD matrix you are trying to control?

Also, can you verify you can control the KD matrix via a PC via Serial?

We can setup a time to chat on the phone, could be quicker to troubleshoot.  Create a support ticket: http://www.myrocontrol.com/support

Thanks!

Tech Notes / FAQ / Re: Crestron Control Module

Some news about full control with navigation ? as I find nothing about it anywhere on website and no way to find full IP protocol promised one year ago....

Hi Vincen,

AirPlay protocol does not allow full control with Navigation.   As for the full IP protocol, we have not released it yet, we recommend RS232 as that provides everything you need and has been more reliable than using the IP method.

Tech Notes / FAQ / Re: Russound MCA-5 HDMI Source
« on: March 09, 2015, 02:07:35 pm »
Yes, you need a matrix switcher and a Myro:Bridge to be able to use the system to switch the video source with the audio source.   Just make sure you get a matrix switcher that has enough outputs as displays in the system.

For example, if you only ever will need 3 sources (STB, Bluray, AppleTV) and have 6 zones with displays, you'll need a 4x8 Matrix leaving 1 open source and 2 open outputs for future use.

I can personally recommend matrix switchers by Key Digital and Wyrestorm.

Feature Request / Re: Integration with the Russound XStream
« on: November 26, 2014, 08:02:39 am »
Hi Jim!

Been meaning to pick up an XStream to test integration with.   Perhaps Myro:Air can help for projects that require only AirPlay ;D

I think I'm going to try out Myro Air. Please advise me on the best android apps to stream to the Russound MCA-C5.

Via Android, you can stream natively as Myro:Air is a UPnP/DLNA enabled device.   If you want to AirPlay via Android, you can use AirAudio (it needs to be rooted) or AllCast if you don't want to root.

Hi,

I'm new to the distributed A/V home system world. Just installed a Russound MCA-C5 system in my home with 8 zones wired. I have it connected to my network and can control from the Russound app on my android phone. I'm also getting the Myro bridge to connect my Atlona PRO34x4 maxtrix switcher for HD distribution.

My problem is, I want to be able to stream my music/video from my Android phone to any zone. And I don't want to have to buy any Apple product (yea, anti-Apple!!). So I thought my solution is the Myro Air. But I was informed by my installer that they've tested the Air and it has problems (to use his words, it's crap!!) He says it cuts off a lot. That there's always firmware issues and that it doesn't work when the internet is not available. He still recommending I get an Ipod and airport express (which I'm resisting strongly!)

I'm no techie, so I decided to bring all these complaints here and get other people's experiences and maybe some answers from the forum.

Thanks
Solomonk

Hi Solomonk,

Thanks for posting this to the forum -- also if you wouldn't mind, please create a support ticket with your installers name and contact details and I'll be more than happy to personally contact them to find out why he thinks it's "crap" and hopefully correct any issues he experienced.  We haven't had anyone return a Myro:Air yet, so I'm not even sure he's ordered or even used one.

Cutting out of AirPlay stream typically means poor network WiFi connection from the AirPlay source (computer or iOS device) and not the Myro:Air.  I use Myro:Air daily in my own home and lots of others are using it too with out issues related to Russound & AirPlay combo.

There are Android apps that allow you to stream to AirPlay enabled speakers/receivers.  Those work well with Myro:Air.  I have a few Android tablets myself that we use to test with.

Cheers!
Danny

Currently, only the metadata for the current song playing is available.

Hello.  I currently have a Russound CAV 6.6 with Russound VM1 (Video Matrix 1) system and it's been solid.  I am now looking to upgrade to HDMI switching and your product seems to be just what I need.  A couple of question that I am hoping you can answer:

I see that Atlona products have been tested and supported.  Does this include the Atlona AT-PRO3HD66M?  If so, do you have any experience with this product and are you able to share?

Yes, the AT-PRO3HD66M is supported and works well with Russound and Myro:Bridge.

If I am using my existing setup with the CAV 6.6 and VM1 connected via RNET am I able to add the Myro:Bridge and the Atlona switch do I can have new HDMI sources integrated with my existing VM1 component sources.  I ask this because it gives me a means to migrate.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Brian

Yes, you can have both the VM1 and HDMI Matrix running together as long as your devices can output both HDMI and Component at the same time both should work fine.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Here is a demo of our new Example Crestron Project with cover art.  Project will be available for download here.

Sure can!  If you change a zone using Keypad or App or via 3rd Party (e.g. HAI, Crestron, etc) serial port it will switch the matrix.

General Discussion / Re: Combining iTunes, Airplay and Sonos
« on: July 28, 2014, 08:24:26 pm »
For you, using a Myro:Air wouldn't be for the high-end DAC but the ability to obtain metadata and transport control of the AirPlay stream.  You cannot do that with an AirPort Express, the only other system that comes close is the DMS3.1 by Russound (which is another option for you).

The challenge with me helping you is that your use case is very complex -- almost too complex.  That's why I was trying to give you insight (different perspective) of how I'm using my system personally with my family.

I still believe AirPlay (or UPnP) with metadata and transport control would suit you best and provide you with the best options -- with the added bonus of an amazing DAC.

Again, you would be streaming via your iOS (or Android) device using AirPlay since everything you mentioned is available to an iOS device.

- Full access to iTunes library and playlists

Available via iOS device (iCloud and locally)

Quote
- Support for multiple iTunes libraries, including playlists. My kids will soon have their own iTunes libraries and playlists (currently only on iDevices, later on Macs) and will want access those as well

Available via iOS device (iCloud and locally)

Quote
- Use of at least one Sonos Connect as a source to the two C5s

What do you need the Sonos for?  What services are you using that are exclusive to the Sonos?

Quote
- Ability to airplay from any iDevice, requiring a source (e.g. Airport Express, RasPi with XBMC, myro:air) that understands AirPlay

All you need is AirPlay (and/or UPnP) streaming

Quote
- Possibly multiple Sonos Connect and AirPlay sources to allow multiple sources

Why do you need a Sonos again?

Quote
- One user interface on my iDevices that does all of the above, selecting sources and mapping them to zones. That’s either the Russound or, preferably, the Sonos app. I don’t want to select the source with one app and the zone with another one. Currently, I need to use one app (iTunes) to select the AirPlay device (Raspberry Pi with XBMC), then switch to the Russound app to select it as input to one of the zones.

I would use the Russound App to switch sources -- but mostly just to turn on a zone (which would be set to the source that provides AirPlay).  Then you should just start streaming... so it depends on how many streams you want.

Perhaps I'm missing something -- please provide more details why you use the Sonos and why you couldn't AirPlay that content instead.
