I know you already blogged about the HiFi by HAI but would you recommend getting something like this instead of the Russound CAV6.6 Uno S2? What am I loosing by going with something like this? Simplicity is very nice however I would still like to add a little pizzaz - inwall screen in the main areas of the house (living room and downstairs).

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
David

HiFi By HAI is a nice product, I still prefer a Russound CAV 6.6 or a CAM. Russound offers a lot of source options that integrate nicely with the UNO and HAI OmniPro II. For example, using RNET you can get radio/satellite content or iPod (via iBridge) meta data through the OmniPro so it can show up on Myro or any other software that reads this data. It's also much more powerful system in terms of output.

HiFi By HAI is a great system if you want some audio around the house, but if you want something that is much more powerful I'd go with a Russound CAV. I've got audio from the OmniPro via a voiceboard connected into the CAV6.6 through the paging interface as well as my panasonic phone system intercom which ties everything together nicely.

There are also other manufactures like Nuvo they have 2-gang OLED panels but they are black with the only color change option for bezels so it's a harder keypad to blend into decor (sometimes that is a problem).

Not to bring up an old topic but since the Hi-Fi is only rated for 20 watts, what speakers do people recommend with this system?

I'm leaning towards some "cheap" 6" monoprice in-ceiling speakers (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10837&cs_id=1083702&p_id=4103&seq=1&format=2 for the Master Bedroom (2), Living Room (4), Kitchen (2), Guest Bedroom(2), and Family Room (2).

Is the Hi-Fi powerful enough for these speakers - they will just be for background music.

If not I may just have to bite the bullet and upgrade to the OmniPro II and Russound setup - don't tell my wife :)

Thanks,
David
